Intro

Many people have wandered what the most popular thing
in Japan is? It's Poke'mon, its been around since 1995
and is the second most popular subject from Nintendo. Understanding the Poke'mon, the card game and the video games will help give an idea why it's so popular.

The Poke'mon

First, there are about 150 Pokemon in each series and 649 Pokemon in all up to date, but I'm not going to cover them all. there are 17 different types of Pokemon:

There are also type advantages like Grass over Water, Water over Fire, and Fire over Grass. There can also be a mixture of types such as Dragon and Flying, Poison and Bug, and Rock and Ground are some of the more common mixtures, but when it comes to the card game its a different story. There are also hundreds of different moves that Pokemon can use. Again the moves are categorized by type and they have their advantages and disadvantages on certain types.

The Card Game

Second, there is the card game and there are rules to follow. The rules are complex so I'm going to go over the breakdown of a pokemon card.
HP: the health points.
Type: water, fire, grass, etc.
Stage: evolution
Info: information on the Pokemon.
Attack: what the name is and what it does.
Damage: the amount of HP points it takes away from opponent.
Weak: weak against type usually X2 damage.
Resis.: resistance against type usually half damage.
Retreat: how many energy cards are needed to be discarded to
retreat the Pokemon.

Each card has their advantages and disadvantages, but multitypes have a slight advantage over single types. there are also special types called Delta Species, where the type is opposite of the original. The EX Pokemon are very strong and are very good against other strong Pokemon. Level X Pokemon are about the same as EX Pokemon.
